Udupi, Sep 14: A seventh standard student named Sanketh (14) committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof beam of his house late evening on Monday September 12. He was a student of Padubelle primary school.

Sanketh was residing with his grandmother at Kallugudde in Herur village near here, and attending school from there. His parents, Santosh Poojary and Sangeeta, stay at Poona.

On Monday evening, Sanketh asked his grandmother to fetch some eatables for him from a shop in Padoor, which is located a little distance away. By the time she brought the eatables, the boy had hanged himself by using a nylon rope. The aged lady raised an alarm, summoned help from neighbours, and bought Sanketh down. But the boy had breathed his last by then.

It is gathered that Sanketh, who fell sick and could not attend school for some days recently, had been admitted into Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi. Investigations had pinpointed that he suffered from high blood pressure. Doctors had advised him to stay away from fried items and such other things. Since then, he did not attend school regularly and remained home most of the time. It is guessed that boy committed suicide, having been frustrated at his health condition.

On a complaint filed by Shashikala, grandmother of the boy, a case was registered in Shirva police station.
