Penelope Cruz Snaps at Photographer

Sarajevo, Sep 20 (IANS/EFE): Actress Penelope Cruz, who has been shooting her new film "Venuto al Mondo" in Sarajevo since last week, had sharp words for a photographer who took a picture of her with her infant son, whom she is trying to shield from the media.

"I know you. You published photos of me with my boy, though the agreement was you wouldn't do that. You should be ashamed of yourself!" Cruz said.

Bosnian media reported Monday that the Oscar winner scolded the photographer for having snapped a photo when she was strolling with her husband, actor Javier Bardem, and their son Leo, through Bascarsija, the historical district of the Bosnian capital.

Cruz has surrounded herself with strong security measures since arriving in Sarajevo two weeks ago accompanied by her family.

In "Venuto al Mondo" by Italian director Sergio Castellitto, Cruz plays the part of Gemma, a single mother who accompanies her teenage son to present-day Sarajevo, the hometown of his father who died in the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.

The filming in Sarajevo ends next Friday, to continue on the Croatian island of Korcula where Turkish actress Sadet Isil Aksoy joins the cast, and will then move on to Italy.

Cast and crew return to Sarajevo in late October to continue production of the film scheduled to premiere within a year.
