Kundapura, Feb 4: Energy Minister K J George visited the Varahi Power House of Hosangadi village on Sunday and held a meeting with the officers after inspecting the Varahi project.
On this occasion, he inspected the site of the pumped storage plant that generates electricity by recycling water.
In the meeting, he discussed the storage of water in the Mani dam, power generation at KPC, the amount of water flowing out after power generation and also the pros and cons of the newly constructed Warahi pumped storage plant.
Speaking to reporters later, minister K J George said, "Karnataka energy department has signed an agreement with the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation for various power projects. Varahi pumped storage plant is also one among them. The project is to build a new dam on the Varahi River, lift the water and reuse it for power generation."
He said that this project will not cause any problem to the Varahi base project and the flow of water into the river.
