Dayan D’Souza to lead Daiji Dubai Writers Forum with Arthur Pereira, Alwyn Pinto

Dubai, Feb 7: Noted Konkani activist, drama director and actor, writer, social activist, founder convenor of Daiji Dubai Writers Forum Dayan D'Souza Mukamar has yet again been chosen unanimously as the convener of Daiji Writers Forum, a prominent forum of Konkani writers in the UAE.

Arthur Pereira Omzoor will team up with Dayan D'Souza as co-convener and Alwyn Pinto as treasurer. The selection for the term 2024-2026 was held during the Annual General Meeting held in Dubai recently.

Dayan D'Souza Mukamar, is a proven leader and a respected name not only in Mangalorean Konkani Circle but with other communities too. He holds vast experience in art and social activities. The Konkani dramas "Ami Nathlya Velaar" and "Mumma Retired Zatta" which were ably directed by him have seen houseful shows both in UAE, in the middle east and in India. His unique leadership quality is highly appreciated by the entire community. Being one of the main founders of Daiji Dubai, it is a well-deserved honor for him to lead the team as the forum is at the threshold of celebrating its glorious 25th year. His vast experience and Leadership skills will definitely help Daiji Dubai Forum as it has planned many events both in Dubai and Mangaluru to commemorate its silver jubilee celebrations.

Arthur Pereira Omzoor is a popular poet known for his meaningful poems. A recipient of district level Rajyotsava award and an acclaimed lyricist, he has produced 3 CDs of his own Lyrics and a devotional CD in partnership. His songs have won many prizes in competitions and poems have been recited in different contests. Being an active member of Omzoor Parishioners Association, he possesses great leadership qualities that will certainly be helpful to Daiji Dubai.

Alwyn Pinto, a Veteran in UAE, is a founder member and president of Mangaluru Konkans Dubai. He is an organizer, writer and a versatile stage actor. Accounts being his strong forte; his services as treasurer in the silver jubilee year will be of great assistance to Daiji Dubai.

Daiji Writers Forum that was formed in 1999 has grown beyond leaps and bounds during the past 24 years of ‘telltale’ history, that includes conferring annual literary awards and lifetime achievement awards to accomplished Konkani writers, arranging workshops on literature, cultural programmes, Konkani standup comedy shows, publication of books, providing financial assistance to needy writers and getting involved in several other causes of Konkani.
