Bengaluru: Police file case against BJP leaders for causing cruelty to cows during protest

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 11: A case under prevention of cruelty against animals act has filed against nine BJP leaders for bringing six cows to Freedom Park here during a protest rally held against the state government.

BJP leaders staged a protest against the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government demanding release of pending subsidy to milk producers.

The police detained the BJP workers who were trying to board BMTC buses to prevent their protest. During this time, the leaders also tried to push the cows  into the bus. But the cows could not board the bus as the doors were small to enter. Police said that the cows were also running around the place out of fear due to the blares of the loudspeakers in the surroundings.

Upparpet SI Prashant filed a case against five including P Rajeev, Pateel Nadahalli, Harish and Saptagiri Gowda. Though permission was given to conduct the protest, it was against the law to bring animals and treat them in an inhumane manner.

A case has also been filed against the owners of the respective cows.
