Kundapur, Feb 19: Several cars and equipment was gutted in fire at Amar Car Clinic at Hemmady, late night on Saturday.

The garage, owned by Amarnath Shetty, a resident of Satwadi, specialized in denting and painting work for cars. At the time of the incident, three cars were present in the garage, with two of them scheduled for delivery to their respective owners on Monday.

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been sparked by an electrical short circuit. Amarnath Shetty, who resides on the top floor above the garage, detected a burning smell late at night and immediately rushed downstairs to assess the situation. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived, the fire had already engulfed the entire workshop.

Prompt action was taken by the Kundapur and Byndoor fire service personnel, who swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control. The efforts of local residents, including Mohammed Ali, Sharfuddin, Ramanath, and Pradeep Devadiga, who assisted the fire service personnel in extinguishing the fire, were commendable.

Following the containment of the fire, assistant sub-inspector Sudhakar and officers from the city police station conducted a thorough inspection of the site to ascertain the cause of the blaze and assess the extent of the damage.
