Udupi, Feb 23: Janardhan Havanje, renowned Kaavi artist of Udupi has been awarded with 'Pingale Kamala Reddy Excellence in Craft National Award' by Craft Council of Telangana.
Havanje has been working for almost 20 years for the survival and development of the poetic art of the Konkan coastal region. He is an assistant professor (visiting) at Srinivasa School of Architecture, Mangaluru and Gandhian Center for Philosophical Arts and Science, Manipal, and is working globally for the survival of this indigenous poetic art which is dying out today.
He has been conducting several workshops, camps, art exhibitions and presenting research papers while working on conservation of art heritage buildings. On the same occasion, an exhibition of his works was also held at CCT Kamala Space in Hyderabad.
