Mangalore: 'Accidental Death, Not Suicide' - Apoorva's Family

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 27: In sad incident, Apoorva (13), a seventh standard student and resident of Nodu Lane in Bejai died of asphyxiation on Sunday September 25 after the rope of a swing she was playing with tightened around her neck. Family sources have clarified that her death was accidental, and that she had not committed suicide as reported in sections of the media.

They added that Apoorva was an autistic child but was brilliant at studies although her normal skills were not much developed. The family had admitted her to Shraddhanananda Saraswati School in Padua here to ensure that she got personal attention at school, it is learnt. Her parents looked after her with lots of affection, care, and attention, helping her to pass every examination in first class.

On Sunday, Apoorva's mother had gone out to fetch Gulab Jamoon mix, as Apoorva had expressed her desire to eat the dish. At the time, the girl was watching television. Sources said that Apoorva, who was later seated on a swing, breathed her last after the rope of the swing got tightened around her neck, asphyxiating her in the bargain. Her mother, seeing the condition of her daughter rushed her to a hospital, but it was too late. Fate took away the life of this young girl within a matter of 15 minutes when no one else was around.

It is learnt that the girl used to play in the swing by swirling around. “On the fateful day, the rope got around her neck, and she could not wriggle out of the noose,” her father, Gopalakrishna Bhat, a teacher at St Aloysius High School, explained. He said usually his daughter accompanied him wherever he went, but she opted to stay at home on Sunday, saying that she had to study for the next day’s English examination. The parents are hurt at the fact that media projected this as a case of suicide and that the girl suffered from depression.

Urwa police sub-inspector, Ramesh, said that a complaint filed by a person named Ravindra on behalf of the girl’s parents, who were in utter grief, had stated that the girl had hanged herself, and that she was suffering from depression. He said that revised statements have since been obtained from the parents.

my heart felt condolences to my beloved Sir, Gopalakrishna Bhat. I am sure you are going through the pain and sorrow of loosing the TREASURED PRECIOUS GODS GIFT.I know for sure and can vouch how much you loved Apoorva more than any thing in your life. You remained till the end as a BELOVED DAD to her. Apoorva as i know brought much joy to the family and to all those who met her. I was blessed to meet her and was transformed by the charm of her. May her soul rest in peace. May god give you the strength to bear this sorrow and pain that you are undergoing.I know for sure by her very birth she touched the heart of everyone who came in contact with her.MAY APOORVA COME BACK AGAIN TO TEACH US HOW LIFE IF PRECIOUS NO MATTER WHAT THE DIFFICULTIES ARE.SHE SHOWED US LIFE IS WORTH LIVING.
i am much saddened by the media report for the loffowing reasons.1.Just because you want to get popularity, just because you want more readers..just because you want to create sensational news.do not victimise pained family.you are adding the pains and increasing their sorrow knowingly and intentionally.2.death in the family is not something to be proclaimed to the whole world..unless family feels the need of it..3.do not conclude irrationally and foolishly with your limited knowledge about the death..by calling it SUICIDE.by doing it you are not only tarnishing innocent family but encouraging the society to do so.
MEDIA remember LIFE,dignity of person is more precious than ur bloody sensational news

why the hell should you media report any death .. of any person unless the family wants it to be reported .. even though one is suspected we cant point out that thats the truth unless convicted any by the way our judicial system works only good people get convicted , culprits always escape.. media the family is in stress at the time when a family member dies under certain circumstances.. kindly give them breathing space... anyways neighoubrs will talk endlessly how the person died.. without giving some kind thought to the victims family .. one only knows how it feels when we suffer a similar tragedy/...
