Mangaluru, Mar 12: Women's Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St Agnes PU College on March 11 to honour the achievements and contributions of women in all walks of life.
The programme commenced with a session on ‘A Holistic Approach to Health and Wellness'. Dr Sr Severine Menezes SAP, director of counselling centre, Mulki was the resource person. The insightful session focused on addressing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health emphasizing the importance of self-care and well-being for women. Dr Sr Severine highlighted how it is women who give strength to their families and sustain them in times of turbulence. She taught a few EFT techniques to alleviate physical pain and emotional distress. Joel, lecturer in physics welcomed and introduced Dr Sr Severine, while Jyoti, lecturer in humanities rendered the vote of thanks.
This was followed by an informal programme skillfully organised by the male faculty who went out of their way to salute their female colleagues and make them feel cherished. Francis welcomed all the women and compered the programme. A floral welcome and special cards highlighting the unique aspect of each female staff member set the ball rolling. Spot games and a melodious song by Joel enlivened the session.
The women's day celebration was a resounding success, and was appreciated by everyone. The event underscored the institution's commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.
P V Shobha, lecturer in Hindi extended a heartfelt thanks for making the day’s event a memorable one. Refreshments and a delectable fellowship meal added lustre to the occasion.
