Oct 1: ‘Force’, the title itself gives us the idea that the movie is packed with ‘action’ and yes it is. But it is certainly not devoid of love, the strength and weakness of humans in general. Infact director Nishikant Kamat strikes a good balance between action and love which is well presented by the actors. Being a re-make of Tamil hit ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ the movie manages to fairly grip the audience and a fine attempt I must say.
Story Outline and Analysis
ACP Yashwardhan (John Abraham) is one among the four brave officers of the Narcotics Deparment who are firm on their mission of bursting the dangerous drug racket. Though the other three had certain family commitments and weaknesses in them Yash had no one of his own. That being his major plus point he fearlessly involved in tackling risky cases and then enters Maya (Genelia D’Souza). Though he was too hesitant to commit to her initially he couldn’t help but fall in love with her.
One particular case related to Vishnu (Vidyut Jammal), a drug mafia proves costly for these four officers. While tracing the people involved in major drug supply the cops happen to kill Vishnu’s elder brother (Anna, which is played by Mukesh Rishi) and then begins the deadly revenge. The four officers and their family members are his target. Yash’s decision to let happiness and normalcy into his life changes his life forever and finally he loses his sweetheart who brought these changes in him. Yet he manages to kill the rogue and continue with his duty of a powerful narcotic cop.
Though the story line is not something new and has a common revenge drama component, the proceedings doesn’t really bore you. The director manages to give it a good flow. Even the love story between John and Genelia though is not extra-ordinary looks pretty fresh as the chemistry between them is tremendous. The script is well-written with some punching dialogues befitting for an action sequel. The ending though tragic is perfect as I felt if the heroine does not die the natural feel of the movie would have lost.
Cast - Powerful John, Lovable Genelia and Outstanding Vidyut
John has indeed chosen a perfect role. Watch the movie, you will know why I’am saying this. The role of a narcotic cop in ‘Force’ is probably the best role John has ever performed. His work-outs, his interaction with the real-life narcotic cops has indeed paid-off. His brawny appearance impresses and goes well with his role in the movie.
Free spirited Genelia was too cute and charming in the movie. Her pretty act captivates the audience and a perfect bollywood choice for Jyothika’s character in Kaakha Kaakha.
Vidyut who plays an intelligent villain was exceptional. He too flaunts his muscles and did justice to his character.
Music
Music by Harris Jayaraj and Lalit Pandit is imposing. All the songs are peppy and pleasant. KK’s voice to ‘Khwabon Khwabon’, the exact tamil dubbing of ‘Uyire uyire’ stands out among all the songs with lovely cinematograghy.
Conclusion
Nishkant Kamat handles the movie well with no much of melodrama and the action too is not over-the-top. The story seems natural and authentic. Though the movie’s story is predictable it makes a strong impact by its way of presentation and performance.
So for John’s flawless physique, Genelia’s adorable performance and for the complementary effort by all the other actors I’ll go with 3 stars.
