Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (MS)

Kundapur, Apr 12: A fourth-grade student who had gone to play in a private swimming pool to celebrate the Eid festival drowned in the pool.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Azeez (10). He had gone to a private resort at Hengavalli with his family members on Thursday to celebrate the Eid festival. Azeez was critically ill after he drowned in the swimming pool and later died.

The family members of the deceased boy have accused the negligence of the resort management as the reason for Azeez's death. They said that the incident occurred due to the absence of safety equipment like life jackets and the lack of lifeguards near the swimming pool.

Azeez is survived by his parents and scores of relatives and friends. He was a student at Darussalama English Medium School in Hoode. The school administration expressed its condolences on the sudden demise of Azeez.

Shankaranarayana police are further investigating the incident.

Both the parents and resort are at fault. The resort should provide basic safety like life guard or atleast a guard and life jackets. The parents, should have accompanied the kid all the time, if the kid didn’t know swimmimg. The best way to avoid such tragedies is to spend a little money and time, and teach the children swimming.

Well said and done but it was the child's fate. You cannot escape death when your time has come. But both resort and parents need to look after their own safety.

everyone living in third world countries should know that they are responsible for their own safety...this is unimaginable if it was a first world country...resort with swimming pool and no life guard? the parents are equally responsible as the resort owners....really sad to have lost a young boy.

How can they blame resort . They should have checked for safety before sending the boy into the swimming pool.\ Why did parents didnt accompany him tot he pool. Just creating a scene. Now they will ask for compensation in name of their child. Feel sad . Rest in peace Mohammed Azeez

Parents are primarily responsible for their action. In fact parents need to be held accountable for their negligence instead of blaming the resort. If you need life guard etc. check its availability before getting into the pool. People degrade India by saying its third world country. It may be true elsewhere but not here. In West they just put a notice saying "No life guards use at your own risk. Children should be accompanied by adult all the time".

Now blaming game started. Where were these ppl to check the safety measures before sending the boy to pool? This is pure negligence from the boys side without accompanying him by one of the elders and without checking the safety measures. Many places i have seen they are negligent be4 and when tragedy happens blaming the concerned organizations all joining in group. They never admit their mistakes. Children are left out somewhere and dese mothers r somewhere.

“Negligence or resort management” haha this has to be a joke. Why would a private pool in a private resort have a lifeguard. Maybe they should take a lesson on parenting children and looking after them, which only SOME of the people don’t know to do and let their kids run and roam around freely. RIP.
