Vienna, Oct 14: The Feast of the Nativity of Mary, popularly called as Monthi Fest was celebrated in Vienna, Austria, by the Mangalorean Community on the 8th of October in the Carmelite Monastery.
Fr Rathan Almeida, OCD, celebrated the Holy Eucharist at 5 pm in the Monastery Chapel and also preached an inspiring homily.
‘Transformation of our Families and Aiming at Holiness like the Holy Family of Nazareth’ was his main thought. This is possible when each is aware of his/her role in the family, and being faithful to it, responsibly contributes to the growth and welfare of the family, he added.
The Eucharistic celebration ended honouring Mother Mary with flowers. The sisters of the Congregation of the Queen of Apostles added beauty and elegance to the entire liturgical celebration through their angelic voices.
The spiritual agape was followed by a festal meal in the Monastery Hall. The new corn was blessed, distributed and keeping up to the tradition, the meal was vegetarian. Each family had prepared one dish and the table was full with a variety of delicacies. All these contributed to a very beautiful family environment.
