Mumbai Embraces Richness of Tulunadu Culture

Mumbai, Oct 16: "Mumbaikars have high respect for Tulu language. They display their unity through language. The same eagerness should be maintained to uphold culture also," said district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of Tulunadu Utsava organized by various Tulu associations at Bhantara Bhavana, Kurla East here on Saturday October 15. On the occasion, he felicitated the chiefs of various Tulu and Kannada unions.
On behalf of Karnataka chief minister Sadananda Gowda, Palemar was given a public felicitation. Bunts Sangha Mumbai president Aikala Harish Shetty presided over the programme. Captain Ganesh Karnik, deputy chairman of NRI Forum, Karnataka, Borivili West MLA Gopal C Shetty, former minister of Karnataka state Nagaraj B Shetty were the guests of honour.
Palemar further said that Nagarjuna company in the name of UPCL project is cheating the people of the region. This company has been tarnishing the culture of Tulunadu and public should be aware of this, he said.
Captain Ganesh Karnik said that Tulunadu Utsava has made it possible to pass the culture of Tulunadu to younger generation.
B Nagaraj Shetty said that service to motherland Tulunadu from Mumbai was a matter of pride and highly appreciable. Tuluvas are known for their compassion and sincerity, he added.
Billava Association Mumabi president and Utsava Samithi president Jaya C Suvarna welcomed and said this Utsava has been organized with the aim of rejuvenating Tulu culture. L V Ameen, co-ordinator of the event delivered the keynote address.
Matunga Constituency MLA K Jagannath Shetty, Andheri East MLA Krishna S Hegde, Mogaveera Mandali Mumbai president Ajith G Suvarna were present.
Utsava Committee vice-presidents Ajith G Suvarna, Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, Balakrishna P Bhandary, P K Salian, Dharmapal U Devadiga, Thonse Sanjeeva Poojary, Mahesh Karkal, Ashok Sasihithlu, Damodar Acharya Siddakatte were also present. Nithyanan D Kotian and Thonse Vijaykumar Shetty compered the programme. Traditional folk dances and other cultural programmes were organized on the occasion.
