Mangaluru: Spirit marriage - Family finds groom, ceremony to be held in Tulu month of Aati

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, May 20: Ghost or spirit marriage recently made news in Tulunadu due to an advertisement placed by a family searching for a groom who had died 30 years ago for a girl who also died 30 years ago. This matter has now reached a rational conclusion. A groom from Bayaru has been chosen, and the marriage will take place in the Tulu calendar month of Aati.

The baby girl, who was just one week old when she died 30 years ago, had not even been given a name. Now, her family has decided to marry her spirit to a boy who also died 30 years ago.

The family received several responses to their advertisement searching for a groom. Later, during the Prashna Chintane (a form of divination), it was revealed that the groom from Bayaru was the right match.

A relative of the deceased baby girl, who resides in Puttur, explained that the marriage, which could not be performed when the girl and boy were alive, will now be done symbolically. Next Sunday, the groom’s family will visit the bride’s family, followed by a reciprocal visit and the engagement ceremony. The marriage is scheduled for the Tulu calendar month of Aati.

The family of the spirit bride from Puttur mentioned that there was extensive discussion regarding the spirit marriage. Hundreds of families contacted them, many of whom expressed the difficulties in arranging such a marriage due to the rarity of finding the exact bride and groom. However, it was also revealed that many families were interested in performing such spirit marriages, raising awareness about the practice.

I can only think why such idea came to the family.May be that was only the child they had or not any more? And are not yet got over their pain of loosing or could have married etc?So this way they want some peace to them selves and soul of their child?Well ,hope now atleast they will be satisfied and live peacefully after the ceremony? Each religion has their own way of finding dead person peace.Catholics offer mass on the day of death day.

Its their personal and does not affect anyone in anyway. Cultures and traditions practiced from ages and centuries, as long as there is no harm for anyone, there is no reason, for anyone to poke their nose. That includes media, isnt it?

Although it's their personal belief, the problem is that in most such cases it's the tantrik/mantrik cartel who make money by inducing fear in the mind of their clients; psychological con games like in any other aspect of life!! For e.g. the practice followed in a very famous religious place in Nipani!!! Please note that this is a very personal opinion based on my perception; kindly do your own research and analysis

Everything is HOKUS POKUS , so don't interfere in other's belief as long as they don't force on you their belief.

The practice of ghost marriages is very old and can be traced back to the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.), with its participants being among those who were wealthy based on Yin-Yang philosophy; perhaps these Tuluvas have got some connection... with the above and follow the traditional practice of marrying 👻s!! In France it's legal to marry a dead person posthumously subject to certain regulations🤔🤔
