Mangaluru, May 29: The MESCOM is fully geared to tackle the potential challenges posed by the upcoming monsoon season, particularly concerning electricity supply, ensuring seamless and efficient service. Dr Padmavathi, the director of MESCOM, has assured that all necessary measures have been implemented to swiftly address any disruptions or hazards in electricity distribution.

Urgent directives have been issued to all chief engineers, executive engineers, and operational staff to promptly identify and resolve disruptions, including hazardous trees or branches affecting power lines. Measures to remove trees or branches posing risks to electricity supply have already been initiated. Each division of the MESCOM is equipped with adequate supplies of poles, wires, and transformers to expedite monsoon-related tasks.

A workforce of 800 personnel has been deployed across the four districts under the MESCOM to carry out rapid response tasks. Additionally, 53 extra vehicles have been provided to facilitate operations. Sufficient vehicles have been allocated for swift task execution. Contact details for immediate communication in case of any variations or hazards in electricity supply or along power line routes have been disseminated through various media channels. Furthermore, the MESCOM helpline at 1912 remains available for assistance.

Pre-emptive measures have been taken to address any damages to MESCOM assets caused by previous cyclones and rainfall, in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon. This includes repair and restoration work on various electricity-related infrastructure such as poles, wires, and transformers, damaged by strong winds and heavy rainfall.
