Mangaluru, Jun 1: St. Mary’s High School organized a short inaugural program on the 31st May 2024 to welcome its students. As students of classes IX and X filled into the auditorium, the Headmistress, Sr Nandika, was there to welcome, instruct and help to settle them. Students admitted to class VIII were new to the High School and were escorted to the auditorium by the band, amidst an ambience of cheerful anticipation, making their first day in the High School a memorable one.
The anchor, Rivika G Martis, briefed the gathering on the purpose of education. The program began with a prayer service, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the headmistress along with Sr Slyvia, Tr Vanitha and representatives from the students.
Students Liesha and Harshitha enlightened the gathering on the meaning of the ‘vision’ and ‘mission’ of the institution. This was followed by a graceful classical dance. There was an inspiring presentation which consisted of a song “Back to School” as well as a short story about helping others, which the students enjoyed watching.
Sr Nandika then addressed the students and impressed upon them the importance of living for others. She spelled out the Motto, ‘Pure and True’; one should be good in thought, word and action. She gave the students sound advice on how to live a good life, and encouraged them to live life with good habits, values and principles. The Headmistress then gave students some general instructions.
The inaugural ceremony ended on a sweet note as a sweet was distributed to each student on their way back to their classes.
