Karkala, Jul 12: The inauguration ceremony of the newly elected student council of Christ King English Medium High School and Higher Primary School was held at the institution’s auditorium.
The chief guest, Fr Paul Cutinho, lit the ceremonial lamp and officially inaugurated the new student council. In his address, he stated, “When leadership is given to students in school, it enables them to become good leaders in society in the future. It is commendable that this institution is instilling leadership qualities in students from a young age.”
Another guest, writer and state officer of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Dr Gananatha Shetty Yekkaru, said, “When a student cultivates knowledge, skills, health, and values, they can succeed in life.”
Retired ISRO scientist Janardhana Idya also addressed the gathering, saying, “From childhood, inculcate moral values within yourself, do not harbour hatred, be honest, and live a life of virtue.”



JCI Karkala president Shwetha Jain, another guest, said, “Leaders must possess discipline and punctuality. All of you should develop these qualities within yourselves to become great leaders of the future.” Student mentor Dr Sister Charlotte Sequeira emphasized, “When students nurture moral values, they can grow into responsible citizens.”
The event was presided over by Dr Peter Fernandes, member of Christ king Education Trust and principal of Alva’s Engineering College. In his presidential address, he remarked, “God does not give everyone the same talents, but He gives everyone equal opportunities. If one makes the best use of these opportunities, they can achieve success in life.”
Rudolph Kishore Lobo, head teacher of the primary section, administered the oath to the new members of the student council. The welcome speech was delivered by Parthiv, the school leader from the high school section, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Siona Lobo, the school leader from the primary section. The event was compered by students Ayesha Ruba and Lenisha D’Souza.
The event also saw the presence of Lakshminarayana Kamath, principal of the pre-university section; Prakash D’Souza, president of the high school Parent-Teacher Association; Linet Marina D’Souza, president of the primary section Parent-Teacher Association; and administrative officer Kiran Crasta.
