Puttur, Jun 13: A heartfelt farewell programme for Dr PS Krishna Kumar, vice principal and head of the department of chemistry, along with a felicitation ceremony for the achievers of the chemistry department, was recently organized at St Philomena College. The event was presided over by the college principal, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who commended Dr Krishna Kumar for his long and dedicated service while also appreciating the accomplishments of the students.
During the ceremony, Sudhanva Shyam, who secured the second rank in the BSc. examinations at Mangalore University, and Ashwath Krishna, who cleared the IIT JAM examination, were honoured for their remarkable achievements.
Dr PS Krishna Kumar retired after an illustrious 38-year career in the chemistry department. Dr Malini K, HoD, chemistry, in her felicitation speech, applauded his contributions and commitment to the department. Students Meenakshi and Sudhanva Shyam shared heartfelt reflections on their experiences with their esteemed teacher. Vice principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar also recollected about his association with Dr Krishna Kumar, highlighting their shared memories.
In his address, Dr Krishna Kumar emphasized the importance of fitness and aptitude (yoga and yogyathe) in life, noting the significant roles parents, friends, teachers, and society play in shaping an individual’s personality.
BSc students rendered prayer. Assistant professor of the chemistry department, Dr Edwin D’Souza, extended a warm welcome and Dr Malini K, the head of the chemistry department proposed a vote of thanks. Samiya Banu compered the programme.
