Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 15: The monsoon has weakened in the coastal districts over the past two days. Mangaluru experienced cloudy weather interspersed with sunshine. The IMD has declared a yellow alert from June 15 to 18, indicating a possibility of substantial rainfall during this period.

In Udupi district, some areas received moderate rainfall. Byndoor and Kaup experienced significant rain late Thursday night and early Friday morning. Udupi, Manipal, Malpe, and the surrounding areas witnessed heavy showers for a brief period on Friday morning. However, the weather alternated between sunshine and cloudy skies for the remainder of the day. The recorded rainfall on Friday was as follows: Karkala 7.5 mm, Kundapur 2.6 mm, Udupi 4.8 mm, Byndoor 12.6 mm, Brahmavar 2.4 mm, Kaup 9.7 mm, and Hebri 2.7 mm.

In Dakshina Kannada district, Ullal received the highest rainfall on Friday with 55.4 mm. The average rainfall for the district was 37.9 mm. Rainfall in various taluks was as follows: Beltangady 37.9 mm, Bantwal 43 mm, Puttur 33 mm, Sullia 32.1 mm, Moodbidri 41.4 mm, Kadaba 36.2 mm, and Mulky 44.9 mm.

    IMD is making mockery of MNG/UDUPI costal through issuing false predictions. We lived in this area with heavy rains since childhood but when this IMD started issuing fake predictions rain stopped. Time to throw these officials into Arabian Sea !!!!!

    MED Department needs an upgradation with their equipments/machineries or change of officials.!!! Yellow / orange alerts in the past have been just the harsh rays of a bright sunshine.!! Hardly has this prediction been true.

    Yellow alert in Mangalore means bright yellow of the sun rays . Most of the Met departments alerts have been wrong .
