NTA announces fresh dates for UGC-NET, CSIR UGC-NET amidst exam controversies

New Delhi, Jun 29: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced fresh dates for three significant examinations amidst controversies surrounding their previous conduct.

The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), originally scheduled for June 18 but cancelled due to alleged question paper leaks via the darknet and Telegram, will now be held from August 21 to September 4. This exam determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, assistant professor positions, and admission to PhD programmes.

Similarly, the CSIR UGC-NET, which was postponed as a precautionary measure, has been rescheduled to take place from July 25 to July 27. This exam is crucial for PhD admissions in disciplines such as chemical sciences, life sciences, and physical sciences.

Additionally, the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to the Integrated Teacher Education Programme, which was abruptly postponed on June 12, will now be conducted on July 10.

Both the UGC-NET and CSIR UGC-NET exams will revert to their usual computer based test (CBT) format spread over a two-week period, contrary to this year's earlier attempt in an offline mode on a single day.

These rescheduling follow investigations into alleged irregularities in the exam process, aiming to ensure fairness and integrity in conducting these crucial examinations.
