Mangaluru, Jul 10: District Congress President K Harish Kumar has demanded the immediate resignation of MLA Bharath Shetty and announced that a police complaint has been lodged regarding Shetty's recent remarks. The party also plans to escalate the complaint to the home minister.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, July 10, at the Congress office in Mallikatte, Mangaluru, Harish Kumar stated, "I respect Dr Bharath Shetty because, out of crores of people, he was selected as an MLA and he is also a doctor, whom we consider as a life-saving god. However, such a person speaking so poorly about the leader of the opposition is unacceptable. He should immediately resign from his position as MLA. We have held protests in many places and plan to protest in Surathkal and Kavoor areas tomorrow. A case has been lodged against MLA Bharath Shetty, and the police should arrest him immediately."

He continued, "It seems like Bharath Shetty has no knowledge of history or the contributions of Rahul Gandhi's family to this country. From Motilal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, everyone has struggled for the betterment of the country, while Bharath Shetty has no background. We challenge him to touch a single Congress party worker. Rahul Gandhi has always respected the Hindu community, and if a Hindu follows the teachings of Hinduism, then the community will flourish. Respect for all religions is essential, but the BJP and RSS are only interested in Hindu votes. The Ram Mandir faces many problems during the rainy season because it was not fully constructed before placing a god, which is against Hindu law. They did not even invite the President of India to the inauguration ceremony. The BJP has completely lost in Uttar Pradesh, and Rahul Gandhi said that the Hindu community belongs to everyone. We are also Hindus, and the RSS and BJP have no ownership over Hinduism."
