Bengaluru, Jul 15: Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy is ‘hit and run expert’, attacked Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and dared the JDS leader to face a media debate or ask his party legislators for a debate on the charges levelled by him in the State legislature.
Speaking to media persons near Vidhana Soudha on Monday, Shivakumar said the JDS leader is an expert in the hit and run politics in the streets by levelling allegations and not proceeding to prove them.
Answering questions from the media persons on Kumaraswamy’s allegation that Rs 15,000 crore bribe has been taken in the garbage disposal tenders, the Bengaluru Development Minister challenged the JDS leader to face an open debate.
“Kumaraswamy is desperate,” he said and accused the JDS leader of being involved in making money out of garbage disposal trucks. “He (Kumaraswamy) should ask his party legislators or his own brother H D Revanna to raise the issue in the Legislature by tabling the documents,” Shivakumar said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the people have not labelled him (DKS) or any member of his family as “king of corruption,” and asserted that he was ready disclose all details if ‘Kumaraswamy is ready for a public debate’.
“I am ready to place all documents and prove who has done what,” he said.
Asked about the Opposition BJP threatening agitations against the alleged corruption of the Congress government outside the legislature, he said: “Let them come to the legislature and have their say. We will give them befitting reply. We also know about the misdeeds and scandals of BJP and disclose all details.”
Shivakumar claimed that the BJP while in power was responsible for the MUDA scandal and several other corruption deals. “A series of scandals and corrupt deeds took place during the BJP rule. We are cleansing the administration and giving a clean and corruption free administration,” he said and offered to face debates on any issue.
To a question on the BJP’s charge that the judicial probe ordered by the government in the MUDA scam with a retired judge of State High Court was “nothing but eyewash,” he said the government has taken the decision in the interests of the administration and cannot function as per the dictates of the opposition.
