Mangaluru, Jul 18: Citizens of Mangaluru have expressed dissatisfaction with the cleanliness and lack of bus shelters at the State Bank bus stand. They have criticized the current state of cleanliness, warning that it could become an ideal breeding ground for dengue and chikungunya mosquitoes if immediate action is not taken.
The State Bank bus stand is as essential as the KSRTC bus stand in Mangaluru. However, the renovation work remains incomplete, and nearby eateries and fast food stalls contribute to the problem by discarding waste on the roads, making it difficult for passers-by.
One resident highlighted, "The State Bank bus stop is filled with waste and rainwater, and the authorities have not taken any steps to resolve this issue. The bus stop is crucial because all city buses operate from here, so its cleanliness should be maintained, which is currently lacking."
Another resident added, "We are forced to stand in the rain until our bus arrives, and the cleanliness is not maintained at all. Most of the Chinese fast food stalls throw waste items on the road, making it disgusting and uncomfortable for passers-by."
A senior citizen commented, "The State Bank bus stop is going to become a breeding ground for chikungunya and dengue mosquitoes. The authorities do not understand the problems faced by regular citizens as they are comfortable in their cars. At the very least, daily cleaning should be maintained at the bus stand premises. Those who discard waste should be punished, and the potholes should be filled because water splashes on those trying to catch their bus."
