Mangaluru: AC leak in Mangladweep Superfast Express; passengers demand action

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 21: A group of 95 passengers traveling from Mangaluru to Shirdi on the Mangaluru-Manmad Mangladweep Superfast Express on July 20 and 21 faced severe inconvenience due to a technical fault in the AC system of coach B6.

The fault caused water to pour into the coach like a waterfall, flooding the inside and making the journey extremely uncomfortable. More than 60 passengers had to endure the entire night without sleep due to the continuous water leakage.

A passenger of the train commented on the incident, saying, "We were on a tour to Shirdi, Ellora, and Trimbakeshwar. When we entered the train, we noticed drops coming from the AC vent. Later, it poured heavily, damaging all the passengers' luggage. We immediately tried to contact the TT, who said this was the first time such an incident had occurred, which doesn't seem right. There were children and elderly people onboard, and those in the first eight seats felt like they were sitting under a shower. We raised our concerns at platform 'X.' The trains are not clean, and the toilets smell bad. The authorities should maintain the same standards they do for Vande Bharat trains. There has been no development in the Railways department for the past 35 years, and all the information we get about the contributions of the NDA government to Railways is proving wrong."

Another passenger added, "The water came inside due to rain. Initially, there were only drops coming from the AC vent, but gradually it increased. Later, water also started entering through the roof and door joints, making this an uncomfortable journey for the passengers. From 6 pm to 10 pm, there was heavy rain, and water entered the train. The Railways officials were trying their best to help, but this seemed like a very serious problem."

One of the passengers, speaking on behalf of the affected group, expressed frustration and called for immediate action, urging the Union Minister of State for Railways to address the issue sharing the videos of the incident. The problem has been reported to the officials on the train, but the passengers are demanding stricter measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.
