Non-AC sleeper, Rajahamsa, and regular buses departing from Mangaluru KSRTC depot are now diverted through Charmady Ghat. However, premium services such as Ambari Utsava, Volvo Multi-Axle, and Dream Class sleeper buses cannot utilise Charmady Ghat due to road conditions, relying instead on the Shiradi Ghat route.
Currently, only 20 out of 40 premium buses departing nightly from Mangaluru KSRTC station are operational via Shiradi Ghat; the remainder have been cancelled. There have been no cancellations at the Puttur depot, which does not operate premium services.

Premium buses departing from Mangaluru depot around 10:30 or 11 pm typically reach Shiradi Ghat by 2 or 3 am. However, since the ghat section opens only at 6 am, passengers often endure extended waits inside the buses, leading to delays with arrival times in Bengaluru pushed to around 11 am instead of the usual 6 or 7 am.
According to KSRTC divisional controller Rajesh Shetty, "Passengers are briefed about the Shiradi Ghat situation prior to their boarding. Buses travelling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru face fewer issues, reaching Shiradi Ghat around 4 am."
KSRTC officials have explored alternative routes. The Hulikal Ghat route to Bengaluru would add an extra 120 km, while the Kudremukh-Kalasa-Chikkamagalur route via Karkala adds 45 km, but this road is too narrow for heavy buses. Consideration is being given to routing buses through Bisile Ghat; however, flooding at the Subramanya section currently renders this route unsuitable. Consequently, Shiradi Ghat remains the primary viable option.
