Udupi, Jul 22: Udupi City BJP president Dinesh Amin has expressed his sarcasm by stating that while the people of Udupi district are frustrated with the working style of the district in-charge minister, and even Congress workers are conducting a 'Go Back' campaign, the helplessness of the Udupi Block Congress president who is issuing desperate statements against the Udupi MLA to appease the minister is pitiable.
"At a time when the people of the district are facing hardships due to natural calamities, the in-charge minister has not visited the district. Instead, she has been conducting a farce of damage assessment only with officials, ignoring the local representatives. The MLA has boldly condemned and criticized this on behalf of the people of the district," Amin said.
"Despite being the in-charge minister for about 14 months, she has conducted only one district progress review meeting. The announcements of grants for Udupi Parayaya (Rs 10 crore) and coastal erosion (Rs 5 crore) by the in-charge minister remain a mirage. The Block Congress president should question their own party’s district in-charge minister, who has forgotten to conduct a KDP (Karnataka Development Program) meeting every three months," Dinesh Amin remarked.
Recently, the in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar visited the district for the private inauguration of a paddy product unit in Byndoor but lacked the decency to listen to the hardships of the district’s people, he added.
"Without ever raising their voice against the failures of the party's own ministers, the Block Congress president has suddenly gained wisdom and issued statements against the MLA for publicity." Amin said.
"It is the responsibility of the MLA to bring the failures of the government and the in-charge minister to the public’s attention, and the MLA is effectively fulfilling this responsibility. The MLA is ready for an open debate on this matter with records," he said.
"The people have given a befitting reply to the Congress government and the in-charge minister’s anti-people policies through the party's defeats in Perampalli ward of Udupi City Municipality, the Lok Sabha elections, and the Belagavi Lok Sabha by-elections. The Block Congress president should learn from these successive defeats," he said in a statement.
