Mangaluru, Aug 8: Two scientists from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) have visited Kettikal near Vamanjoor to investigate the ongoing hill collapse.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Mugilan stated, “The GSI scientists have been inspecting the Kettikal hill collapse area for the past two days. According to their assessment, there is a risk of further collapse at one or two points. Vehicles must be driven carefully on this stretch of road. Instructions have been issued to control the water flow from the top of the hill. Discussions are underway with a Delhi team that uses drone surveys and collects information. An investigation is also in progress to determine the cause of the hill collapse. The process of relocating local residents is ongoing, and precautions have been advised to the NHPD, MCC commissioner, and police officers.”

There is also a possibility that GSI scientists will visit other hill collapse areas in Dakshina Kannada. The team that studied the Shirood hill collapse is expected to visit Kettikal soon.
