Udupi, Aug 30: In a comprehensive investigation into the drug-related case registered at the Karkala City Police Station, it was uncovered that the accused, Giriraju Jagadhabi (31) from Andhra Pradesh and John Noronha (30) from Shankarpura, had previously worked together in Kuwait. Giriraju had contacted John to inquire about the availability of drugs. In response, John asked Giriraju to come to Udupi, where he introduced him to Shahid (39) from Karkala. Shahid had been attempting to procure synthetic drugs locally for about a month without success.

Shahid then reached out to Abhay (23) from Karkala, who had previously worked in Bengaluru and was familiar with drug suppliers. Following Abhay's advice, Shahid instructed Giriraju to travel to Bengaluru. Accompanied by Shahid, Altaf, and Abhay, they traveled to Bengaluru, where they purchased drugs from an unidentified supplier and handed them over to Giriraju.

The three accused received a commission for their involvement, from which Altaf retained a portion of the drugs. This same drug was allegedly administered to a woman on the day of the rape incident. The remaining drugs were recovered from Altaf's car, while MDMA was seized from Giriraju.

A total of five individuals have been arrested in connection with this case, but the person who supplied the drugs in Bengaluru remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.
