Karkala: Nitte University holds annual convocation at Nitte off-campus centre

Karkala, Aug 31: "The transformative power of education enhances knowledge, skills, and personal development," opined Umesh Govind Revannakar, executive vice president of Shriram Finance, here on Saturday.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the 14th annual convocation ceremony held at the Sadananda auditorium of Nitte off-campus center, Karkala.

"While we may plan, things may not always go as we expect. If our plans do not work out, we must persevere. Education is the foundation of every society and paves the way for a better tomorrow," he added.

Pro-chancellor Dr M Shantharam Shetty highlighted the importance of quality education and good conduct, stating that these are the primary responsibilities of educational institutions. "We must never forget that our parents, teachers, school, and our homeland are responsible for our success," he said.

N Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the growth of the institution. "Nitte University has over 14,000 students studying across campuses in Nitte, Mangaluru, and Bengaluru. The institution has earned a remarkable reputation nationally and internationally. I believe that the inspiration for the birth and growth of the Nitte group of institutions came from my mother, Meenakshi Hegde," he said.

Vice-Chancellor Dr M S Moodithaya delivered the welcome address, stating that the university is committed to providing world-class education to students, fostering innovation and research, and making meaningful contributions to society. "As we approach our golden jubilee in 2029-2030, the university has launched 'Project Vridhi - Strategic Plan 2030' to drive growth and progress," he said.

The programme was attended by pro-chancellor Vishal Hegde, director of finance and planning Rajendra M, vice-president of ISR & CRL Dr Sateesh Kumar Bhandari, vice-president of technical education Dr Gopal Mugeraya, registrar Dr Harsha Halahalli, controller of examination Dr Prasad B Shetty, and heads of various colleges at Nitte off-campus, along with academic council members.

A total of 311 students were awarded degrees, including 29 master of technology, 120 master of computer applications, and 162 master of business administration degrees.

Student Shraddha Upadhyaya offered the invocation. Dr Sudheer Raj and Dr Harshitha Jattana compered the programme.

Gold Medal awardees

A total of three students were awarded gold medals for their outstanding academic performance during the 14th annual convocation ceremony. Monteiro Pamela Stacey Edward, Vinayaka Kamath, and Neha Y Devadiga were recognised for securing the first rank in their respective programmes: master of technology, master of computer applications, and master of business administration.

Merit certificate awardees

In addition to the gold medal recipients, several other students were honoured with merit certificates for their exceptional academic performance. These awards were presented to students who achieved the highest and second-highest marks in their respective postgraduate programmes.

The merit certificate awardees include Monteiro Pamela Stacey Edward, Mahesh R Devadiga, Deepak, Deviprasad Shetty, Sujith Raj, Mangalam Varsha, Manjusha Rao P, Alvistor Parveen D’Silva, Aqtara Parveez, Chaithra K S, Vinayaka Kamath, Dinu Joy, Neha Y Devadiga, and Tanaaz Fayaz Ali.
