Udupi, Sept 1 : Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, organised an orientation programme for the newly joined BE students at the institute premises on Sunday, September 1.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, honourable justice N Santosh Hegde, former judge, Supreme Court of India and former Lokayukta, Karnataka.
Justice N Santosh Hegde addressed the students on “Roles of Students in Protecting the Societal Values”. He observed that human greediness is the root cause of all the societal problems leading to corruption and bribery.
He said the only way to overcome these issues is by having satisfaction with what we have without comparing our lives with others. He shared a few of his experiences handling social problems, being the Karnataka Lokayuktha.
Finally, he appealed to the students to teach human values to excel in life and always have focus on the development of human society by leading a life with ethics and high morality.
P Srinivas Tantry, vice-president of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, presided over the ceremony. The principal of SMVITM, Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the major accomplishments in academics and extra-curricular fields of the institute. Few parents shared their expectations on this occasion.
Rathnakumar, secretary Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, expressed his gratitude to the parents and students for having faith and confidence in the institution and assured them that the college and the management are bound to give the best education to the students. He shared the plans of the institution on heading towards being an autonomous institution. He shared the overall support the institution is providing for the placement activity and how it has improved over the years.
Honorable GC member, Harish Belman; vice-principal Dr Ganesh Aithal and Rathnakumar was also present on the dais.
Dr Lolita Priya Castelino, HOD of Mathematics, introduced the chief guest Justice N Santosh Hegde. Dr Deepika B V, first-year coordinator & HOD, department of civil engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme started with an invocation by Abhishek Kini, a second-year student. Faculty members of the institution, Preethi, and Sachin Prabhu K, completed the programme.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr Nagaraj Bhat, dean, academics gave a prelude on rules and regulations to be followed by the students of the institute highlighting the various facilities available for the students to excel in their career.
