Beltangady, Sep 1: A leopard that had been causing panic in Savanalu village for the past two months was finally captured late on Saturday night.

Forest department officials had set up a cage near the home of Gurikanda Ananda two months ago, baiting it with a hen in an effort to trap the elusive leopard.

On Saturday night, the leopard, in its attempt to prey on the hen, got trapped inside the cage.

Forest department officials were promptly informed and rushed to the scene. The capture of the leopard brought a collective sigh of relief from local residents, who had been living in fear due to the leopard’s presence.
