Mangaluru, Sep 3: National Sports Day was celebrated with remarkable enthusiasm at the St Agnes School (CBSE) auditorium on August 30. The event, organized to underscore the significance of sports and physical activities in students' lives, the programme was graced by the distinguished presence of Dr Gerald Santosh D'Souza, director of physical education, whose motivational address resonated deeply with the audience.

The celebration commenced with a solemn prayer service, invoking blessings for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by an exuberant welcome dance that set an invigorating tone for the event, showcasing the students’ exceptional talent and zest. Shannon Saldanha delivered a heartfelt welcome address, introducing the chief guest and expressing the school’s pride in hosting such a meaningful occasion.

Sanvi Sudhakar eloquently articulated the significance of National Sports Day in her speech, emphasizing how sports play a pivotal role in fostering character, physical health, and mental well-being. The programme continued with a dynamic sports-themed dance that enthralled the audience, embodying the essence of various sports and the competitive spirit. This was followed by a thought-provoking skit that vividly illustrated the intrinsic connection between physical fitness and mental health. The skit was met with great appreciation, effectively delivering a powerful message to the students.

Dr Gerald Santosh D’Souza, the chief guest, passionately highlighted the crucial role that sports play in the holistic development of students. The occasion was witnessed by principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, vice principal Sr Meena Fernandes AC, and Sr Reshma D'Souza AC, along with faculty members and students. Leona skillfully led the programme as the host, and Ishanvi delivered a sincere vote of thanks, recognizing everyone’s outstanding participation. The event ended with a moving performance of the school anthem, marking the end of a truly remarkable and inspiring celebration.
