Bantwal, Sep 21: "As cooperative societies expand through more branches, nationalised commercial banks are merging and distancing themselves from the public," stated M N Rajendra Kumar, chairman of the Dakshina Kannada District Central Cooperative Bank. He made these remarks at a programme titled "Trader-Customer Meeting," organised by the Dakshina Kannada Traders' Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society in Bantwal.
Rajendra Kumar noted that while Dakshina Kannada was once considered the home of banks, the merger of banks has led to their disconnect from the community. "Commercial banks often lack personnel who understand the local culture and language. In contrast, cooperative societies employ individuals familiar with the local culture and language, making it easier for customers," he added. He congratulated everyone involved in the success of the event and emphasized that the cooperative sector has brought victories for farmers in the district.
Mohanadas Paramahamsa Swamiji of Manil Shri Dham offered blessings, stating that the traders' association has evolved into an organisation promoting love and harmony, signaling a bright future for the bank.
Subhashchandra Jain, president of the Traders' Cooperative Society, chaired the meeting and emphasised that the purpose of the gathering was to strengthen the relationship between traders and customers.
