Mangaluru, Sep 23: Noted Konkani fiction writer Dr Edward Nazareth shared insights into his creative process during the recent Kathasandhi event, organized by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and Daiji Trust, Mangaluru, at the Sandesha auditorium.

Dr Nazareth emphasized the importance of real-life experiences in shaping his short stories. "The happenings around me deeply influence my writing," he stated. "There’s nothing wrong with drawing inspiration from real incidents. I strive to reflect the authenticity of the subjects that come to mind."

He elaborated on his writing process, explaining, "I can’t write a story instantly; it takes time for a subject to fully develop in my mind. This can take weeks or even months. Once it’s ready, I can write fiction seamlessly." He noted that the imaginary settings in his stories closely resemble his native region, enhancing their relatability.

The event featured an introductory speech by Melwyn Rodrigues, convenor of Sahitya Akademi for Konkani. Praveen Tauro, president of Daiji Trust Mangaluru, welcomed Dr Nazareth and attendees. Dayan D'Souza, founder president of Daiji Dubai, was also present on the dais. Vincent Pinto delivered the vote of thanks, while Stany Bela served as the event's moderator.

The gathering celebrated the intersection of literature and real-life narratives, highlighting the role of local experiences in shaping compelling fiction.
