Udupi, Sep 29: In a breakthrough in a long-pending missing person case, Shruti Shetty, who went missing 10 years ago, has been found. The case, registered under Padubidri police station, was filed under the missing person section when Shruti Shetty, a resident of Palimaru in Udupi district’s Kaup taluk, failed to return home after visiting her grandmother on June 25, 2014. Her husband, Shankar Shetty, lodged a complaint with the Padubidri police, and an investigation was launched.
Despite efforts, the police were unable to trace Shruti Shetty, and the case was moved to an inactive file on January 30, 2016. However, under the orders of Udupi District Superintendent of Police, PSI Prasanna M S of Padubidri Police Station resumed the investigation. ASI Rajesh P and head constable Devaraj gathered information that Shruti Shetty was residing in Bengaluru.
The police team traveled to Varthur, Bengaluru, and, with the help of the local Varthur police, located Shruti Shetty. After recording her statement, a photograph was taken with the Varthur police station officials. Upon returning to Padubidri, the photograph was shown to her husband, Shankar Shetty, who confirmed the woman in the image was indeed his wife.
Following this confirmation, Shankar Shetty submitted a statement requesting the closure of the missing person case, and the case was officially closed.
