Kundapur, Oct 5: More than 200 people from Madikal and Karkikali, under the Uppunda gram panchayat, fell ill due to suspected cholera. Tahsildar Pradeep and health department officials visited the area to inspect the surroundings.
Officials reported that water samples from the drinking water supplied by the panchayat will be tested, and action will be taken based on the results, as the public suspects the disease is waterborne. CEO of the taluk panchayat Bharati and taluk medical officer Dr Rajesh were also present.
According to health department officials, the disease originated from water and has since been spreading from person to person. Approximately 145 people have recovered after medical treatment. Three patients are under observation at Kundapur government hospital and Byndoor. Some have been admitted to private hospitals, while others are self-treating at home. There are reportedly no serious cases.
