Mangaluru, Oct 7: AGNESIA 2K24, a national-level inter-collegiate IT and management fest, was held on October 3 and 4 at St Agnes College (Autonomous). This fest, organised by the MBA and MCA departments, was the first of its kind and saw participation from 25 colleges from in and around Mangaluru.
Inaugural event
The inaugural ceremony took place on October 3 at Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium. Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media Network, was the chief guest, and Ashok Shrestha, retired portfolio director at General Electric (Renewable Energy), was the guest of honour.
The event was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Walter Nandalike, in his motivational speech, encouraged the audience by stating, “It's never too young to teach and never too old to learn," stressing the importance of embracing change despite age. He emphasised the significance of taking risks and overcoming fears.
Ashok Shrestha spoke to the students about leadership and teamwork, highlighting the importance of cultural diversity, decisiveness, and being open to contemporary changes. Drawing from his own life experiences, he emphasised the value of teamwork and adaptability.
Sr Dr M Venissa addressed the audience with the presidential remarks, focusing on the role of education in molding students' lives and the importance of learning life lessons that lead to transformation. She urged students to follow both their minds and hearts.
Vaishnavi Shenoy introduced the audience to Aavirbhav, the MCA fest, while Kshama Bangera introduced Euphoria, the MBA fest. The trophies for the event were unveiled by the dignitaries.
Other dignitaries on the dais included Sr Dr M Venissa, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Sr Dr M Vinora, PG coordinator, Sheryl Preethika, head of the MBA department, Panchajanyeswari, head of the MCA department, along with student coordinators Vaishnavi Shenoy and Kshama Bangera.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a prayer song led by Venisha and her MCA team, followed by a welcome dance performed by Dhanyashree and her MCA team. The audience was welcomed by Panchajanyeswari, head of the MCA department, and the event was hosted by Akshatha Shetty from the MCA department. Sheryl Preethika, head of the MBA
department, proposed the vote of thanks.
Valedictory event
The valedictory event took place on October 4 at Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium at 5 pm.
The chief guest for the occasion was Marjorie Texeira, vice president of the Agnesian Alumni Association. In her address, she encouraged the audience by speaking on the importance of culture alongside theoretical knowledge, emphasising that education goes beyond textbooks.
Dr Gerard D’Souza, mentor for the MBA programme, shared his experiences and insights, helping students navigate uncertainties. The participants shared remarkable feedback, which will motivate the MBA and MCA students to organize future fests.
Other dignitaries present on the dais included Sr Dr M Venissa, principal, Sr Dr M Vinora, PG coordinator, Sheryl Preethika, head of the MBA department, Panchajanyeswari, head of the MCA department, Dr Gerard D’Souza, mentor, along with student coordinators Vaishnavi Shenoy and Kshama Bangera.
The valedictory event was hosted by Jansil Saldanha from 2nd MBA, with Vinston of 2nd MBA welcoming the audience. The ceremony began with a prayer song led by Fabiann D’Souza and team, and the vote of thanks was proposed by
Vinston of 1st MBA.
