Chitradurga, Oct 7: In a significant development in a high-profile POCSO case, Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana Swamiji of Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Brihan Mutt has been granted bail by the 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court. This decision follows the near-completion of the evidence examination process, a crucial step in the ongoing legal proceedings.

Swamiji, who is the first accused in the case, had previously secured bail from the High Court. However, concerns were raised at the Supreme Court level regarding potential influence over witness testimonies.

The Supreme Court had mandated that he remain in custody until the evidence examination was concluded, which has now taken place.

With the court's recent ruling, Swamiji is expected to be released from the district jail, possibly making his way back to the Mutt. This case has drawn significant public attention, with 12 witnesses, including two victims, having testified, highlighting the case's complexity and its broader implications for justice.

As the situation continues to unfold, many are closely monitoring the impact of this decision on the ongoing proceedings and the community associated with Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Brihan Mutt.
