Bengaluru, Oct 10: Christ University, known for its vibrant student community, hosted their annual event that celebrates India's linguistic and cultural diversity Bhasha Utsav, on September 16.

A festival that celebrated the beauty of India in its amalgamation of cultures, traditions, languages and ethnicities. On this particular occasion the students and the faculty join their hands together as they come to host the event and revel in the richness of India's diverse and vibrant heritage. Bhasha Utsav provides a platform to all those who are a part of this university to honor the distinctiveness of the various states, ethnicities and origins while simultaneously fostering a sense of unity among the university's diverse population.

The multitudinal event began with the procession that incorporated a parade of individuals in their traditional attire accompanied by dance and music of the respective states, displaying the rich diversity of India. It created a vivid display of the diverse ethnicities represented within the campus, from the vibrant and colorful sarees of the South to the intricate handlooms from the North.

Keeping up with the momentum, the event schedule was choc-a-blocked with ethnic show, DJs and special performances by artists from Kerala and Karnataka.

The ethnic show that followed after was a 2-hour long event held in the auditorium of the Central Campus where students and teachers alike showcased the uniqueness of their states wearing their traditional attire and dancing on their folk songs. These performances then not only entertain but also educate the audience about the deep-rooted traditions of India's regions. It was one of the key highlights of the day that leaves a long-lasting impact on us.

At its core, Bhasha Utsav is more than just a cultural programme. It is a celebration of the multi-lingual and multi-ethnic tapestry that embellishes India in its divine beauty. With special addition of the performances that celebrated the folk traditions through their music and dance such as Shringarimelam originating from Kerala and Dollu Kunitha originating from Karnataka were performed at different locations in and around the Central Campus.

After all the formal cultural performances, the festivities shifted to a modern tone with a DJ setup at the Central Campus' Basketball Court, where students from all groups and backgrounds gathered in the frenzy of music and dance breaking all the barriers of language and region. This seamless blend of traditional and modern forms of expression represents the evolving nature of culture in today’s world, its adaptation and its celebration at the CHRIST University.
