Bantwal, Oct 15: In a bold move, BJP State President B Y Vijayendra has announced plans to seek presidential approval for the dismissal of the Congress government, citing rampant corruption linked to scandals such as the Valmiki Tribal Corporation and MUDA site scam.
Speaking at a press conference in Bantwal, he stated, "The Congress government is indulging in corruption through these scams while providing protection to traitors."
Vijayendra condemned the government's handling of the Hubballi incident, where individuals involved allegedly received undue protection, labeling it an "unforgivable crime." He emphasised, "This government is trying to withdraw cases against those who attacked police officers, which is unacceptable."
He promised a massive protest in Hubballi on October 25, signaling an intensified campaign against what he termed an "inept government."
He underscored the BJP's role as a responsible opposition, asserting, "When the ruling party fails to deliver on its promises, we will fight back."
He highlighted the resignations of ministers like Nagarendra as evidence of Congress's failures, adding, "Siddaramaiah and Mallikarjun Kharge have returned sites to the government due to our pressure. This is known to the people of Karnataka."
On upcoming by-elections in Channapatna and Sanduru, he confirmed that discussions with national leaders are ongoing, stating, "Everything is in front of our national leaders. However, no candidates have been finalised yet." He referred to deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar’s claims about being the candidate in Bengaluru Rural, remarking, "The people there have already taught him a lesson. They will teach him again in Channapatna."
Addressing the Prerana Trust case, he said, "Congress leaders lack information on this issue. If they want a copy of the court judgment, I can send it to them." He expressed optimism about BJP's prospects, particularly with candidate Kishore Kumar, who he believes will secure a significant victory in the upcoming elections.
Vijayendra pointed to BJP's third consecutive victory in Haryana and the rejection of Congress by voters in Jammu and Kashmir as indicators of shifting political tides. He asserted, "The Congress government in Karnataka has quickly fallen out of favour. We will teach them a lesson through the upcoming elections."
The press conference featured key BJP figures, including Opposition Leader in the Assembly R Ashoka and Opposition Leader in the Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, reinforcing the party's unified stance against the Congress government amid rising tensions and allegations of corruption.
