Udupi, Oct 17: Ranjala Lakshmana Narayana Nayak, aged 76, a respected elder of the Ranjala Nayak family, passed away at his home on October 16. He was well-known for successfully operating a grocery store and hotel for over 55 years, earning the affectionate title 'Ranjala Lakshmaner' in the community.
In addition to his business acumen, he was recognized for his contributions to progressive agriculture and community service. During a time when the village lacked a hospital, he provided free herbal remedies to the underprivileged, particularly for diseases like jaundice and snakebites, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of his neighbours.
Ranjala Lakshmana's dedication to service was evident in his lifelong commitment to the local temple, where he performed continuous and selfless service. He was honoured during the temple renovation for his contributions. Furthermore, recognizing the lack of educational facilities in the village, he generously donated land to build a government anganwadi, ensuring that children did not miss out on education.
He leaves behind his wife, two sons, a daughter, grandchildren, and a large extended family. Ranjala Lakshmana Narayana Nayak's passing is a significant loss to the community, where he was not only a successful businessman but also a pillar of support and inspiration for many.
