Mangaluru, Oct 18: A late-night scare unfolded unfolded in Vidyanagar, near Kumpala, when a petrol-powered TVS Ntorq scooter parked in a residential compound caught fire.

Owned by Rakesh, an ITI student who had bought the scooter just two months ago, the blaze ignited around 12:30 am, rapidly spreading to the home's window and electrical wires.

Fortunately, the family was alerted in time and sprang into action, extinguishing the flames before a larger disaster could occur. Despite their efforts, some damage was inflicted on the property.

A complaint has been lodged at the Ullal police station, with investigators suspecting a short circuit may have sparked the fire.
