Mangaluru, Oct 23: The excise department has intensified its operations against illegal liquor and narcotics trade in Dakshina Kannada (DK), seizing a total of 5.051 grams of ganja and 9.460 grams of MDMA in the month of October.
On October 18, a major violation was uncovered at KSBC Depot-2 in Baikampady, where 1,100 crates (10,680 litters) of beer were found to have been supplied from Hassan with expired documents. The department seized both the vehicle and the consignment for violating excise rules.
Similarly, on October 14, authorities raided a shop in Gunadka, Sampaje village, Sullia taluk, where 111.750 litres of homemade wine were being stored and sold illegally. The excise department registered a case in connection with the incident.
On October 20, officials intercepted a vehicle near Karkera on the Baikampady-Bajpe road carrying 3.690 litres of liquor without valid documents. The liquor and the vehicle were seized, according to excise deputy commissioner T M Srinivas.
