Udupi, Oct 24: The Udupi City Police have successfully resolved several complaints of lost mobile phones filed through the KSP (Karnataka State Police) app. Following the complaints, the mobile phones were blocked using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, an initiative by the Government of India to trace lost or stolen mobile phones.
In 2024 alone, the police, through the CEIR portal, have recovered 80 mobile phones. Of these, 50 have already been returned to their rightful owners. The total estimated value of the recovered phones is approximately Rs 10 lac.
As many as 32 more mobile phones were handed over to their respective owners on Thursday, October 24. The ceremony was presided over by Udupi deputy superintendent of police, Prabhu D T, and police inspector, Sridhar Vasanth Satare, along with sub-inspectors Puneeth Kumar B E, Eranna Shiragumpi, and Bharatesh Kankanawadi.
