Mangaluru, Oct 28: The Panambur police have successfully arrested six individuals, including a foreign national, involved in drug trafficking and sales within the Panambur police station limits. Authorities seized various narcotics and a scooter during the operation.
The Panambur police received a tip-off that two youths on a scooter near the sea route behind the KIOCL area were allegedly in possession of drugs for sale. Acting on this information, Panambur station PSI Shreekala K T, under the guidance of Mangaluru North assistant commissioner of police Srikant K, led an operation. Police apprehended the accused, identified as Chandan and Sharath, and later detained four others who allegedly assisted in drug distribution: Madhusudhan Konchadi, Dhanush Akash Bhavan, Mukesh Derebail (a Nigerian national), and Michael Balaji, also known as Azbaek Johnny.
During the operation, authorities seized 11 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of MDMA, with a combined market value of Rs 91,000. Additionally, police recovered a scooter (registration number KA-02-AG-0616) and nine mobile phones used by the accused to target the public for drug sales.
Among the arrested, five are residents of Mangaluru, while one is a Nigerian citizen. All suspects reportedly work in private sectors, including catering and painting services. The accused were presented before the court, which has remanded them to judicial custody.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, DCP (law and order) Siddharth Goyal, and DCP (crime and traffic) Dinesh Kumar. The team was led by Panambur police inspector Mohammed Saleem Abbas, with assistance from PSI Shreekala K T, crime division staff, and officers from the Mangaluru North Division, including PSI Raghavendra M Naik, HC Premanand, Satish M R, Syed Intiyaz, and other personnel who played key roles in the operation.
