Media Release

Hassan, Oct 30: In a significant step toward modernizing classroom learning, St Joseph Educational Institutions, managed by the Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa (SCCG), organised a day-long workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for their teaching faculty on October 26. The event took place at the school auditorium in collaboration with Canara Communication Centre, Mangaluru, and powered by AiLumina-AI learning platform in Mangalore

The workshop was led by two distinguished AI experts: Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, director of Canara Communication Centre, a Google-Certified AI Coach, and media professional, and Leo Victor Zalki, director of Oxidane Enviro LLP, an Oracle and Google-Certified AI professional. The sessions were held in three batches, with around 50 teachers from St Joseph's State Board Kannada and English medium schools, as well as faculty from Anugraha English Medium School, Arehally.

Sr Ida D’Almeida, correspondent and manager of St Joseph’s Institutions, coordinated the event and underscored the importance of integrating AI into educational practices. "AI is no longer the future - it’s the present," she said. "Empowering our teachers with these skills is essential to deliver a relevant, dynamic education."

The workshop aimed to equip educators with practical AI tools and methodologies to create a technology-enhanced, data-driven learning experience tailored to each student's needs. Sessions covered essential topics, including ethical AI usage in education, with hands-on demonstrations that made the potential applications clear and accessible.

Fr Fernandes emphasized AI’s practical applications in everyday teaching, explaining, "Learning is an ongoing process. As experienced educators, you can transform classrooms by embracing emerging technologies like AI."

Zalki introduced various AI tools that allow for personalized, interactive learning experiences, encouraging educators to rethink traditional approaches to suit an AI-driven world.

Leo Victor highlighted AI's role in enhancing, not replacing, the teacher's craft: "AI will not replace human creativity and thinking. It should be embraced as a tool to augment our capacity and cognitive abilities, enabling educators to reach new heights in the classroom."

The workshop marked a progressive step for St Joseph Educational Institutions as they prepare their faculty to navigate and excel in an evolving educational landscape shaped by artificial intelligence.
