Mangaluru: Student riding pillion dies in tragic bike accident near Netravati bridge

Mangaluru, Nov 1: A bike accident near Netravati bridge claimed the life of a 19-year-old student passenger, Salman Fareesh, after the bike he was on collided with an iron barrier on the roadside. The tragic incident occurred on Friday evening.

Salman Fareesh, a resident of Loretto Padavu near B C Road, was riding with his friend Mohammad Shakir, who was riding the bike. Shakir sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.

Both students were from a private college in Konaje and were heading towards Mangaluru from Konaje when the accident occurred near Netravati bridge. The impact threw both riders onto the road, resulting in severe injuries. Sadly, Salman Fareesh succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Mangaluru south traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Notably, another fatal accident occurred in the same area on Thursday evening when a pedestrian, identified as Adam, a middle-aged resident of Farangipete, was struck and killed by an out-of-control tempo near Adan Kudru close to Netravati bridge.
