Mangaluru, Nov 10: In a dramatic late-night incident on November 7, eight assailants on motorcycles attempted to attack the car of Asif, a Kerala-based accused released on bail in the Arjun Madoor assault case. The attack took place on National Highway 66 near the UC College Road-Ucchil Jio Petrol Pump.

Asif, a resident of Hosangadi in Kerala, was arrested after a confrontation with Hindu leader Arjun Madoor over a road accident on October 17.

Following the incident, Hindu activists staged protests outside the Ullal police station. Asif was later granted bail and was on his way back to Kerala on November 7.

Around 9:30 pm that evening, as Asif’s car reached K C Road, a group of assailants on motorcycles blocked his vehicle. Armed with swords and sticks, they threatened him, and one of the swords struck the car, damaging the windshield.

As the attackers pursued the car, Asif drove towards the Tolar Gate toll plaza and then sought refuge at the Manjeshwar police station.

The Ullal police have filed a case, and an investigation is underway.
