Bantwal, Dec 15: A bus carrying 50 tourists overturned due to a technical snag at a bend in Kargal, Sagara taluk, on Sunday, December 15. The tourists were traveling from Sri Sai Mandir in Shamboor of Bantwal taluk to Jog Falls.
The tourists had left Shamboor in the morning to visit Jog Falls. Among the injured, Yashoda and Deekshita are reported to be seriously hurt. While details of other injuries are still unclear, some individuals sustained serious injuries to their hands and legs, and one or two children have suffered severe head injuries.
The injured have been admitted to Sagar Hospital, and some are being brought back to Mangaluru after receiving first aid, according to sources on the bus.
Chaithresh, one of the tourists, informed Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady, who subsequently notified BJP state president Vijayendra, Sagar MLA Belur Gopalkrishna, and MLC Dr. Dhananjaya Sarji. Arrangements were made to transfer the injured to the hospital.
Former Kargal panchayat member Harish Gowda, along with other community members like Balasubramanya and Gurusiddappa, visited the site and helped transport the injured to the hospital by ambulance.
Meanwhile, 11 ambulances carrying the severely injured arrived at A J Hospital in Mangaluru. A skilled medical team, led by Dr Prashanth Marla, was prepared and admitted the injured for further treatment. MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady cut short his visit to Belagavi, reached the spot, consoled the worried relatives of the injured, and extended necessary assistance.
