Udupi, Dec 19: Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K Vidyakumari has directed the engineer and contractor to complete the construction of the Indrali railway overbridge by January 10, 2025 to ensure smooth vehicular movement.

Speaking during a meeting on the progress of the overbridge construction held at the DC office auditorium on Wednesday December 18 the DC emphasized the need for swift action.

"The correspondence regarding the Indrali railway overbridge began in 2018. The district administration is receiving daily complaints from the public regarding the delay in completing the project. A weekly progress report must be submitted without fail," she stated.

Highlighting the urgency, the DC added, "The railway department has already approved the project. Civil works and iron bridge installations must proceed round the clock in two shifts. All construction activities must be completed by January 7."

The meeting was attended by SP Dr Arun K, senior engineer of Konkan Railway Gopalkrishna, assistant executive engineer of Shringeri-Chikkamagalur NH division Manjunath, and district information officer Manjunath B.

Very good move. Deadlines should be set for all these kind of projects and contractors should be fined on a day basis (Contractor to pay some amount for every day extended) if work is not completed before the deadline.

Impossible... They are only assembling the mammoth structure just beside the intended placement location... The placement location is not prepared yet to receive the super structure... After laying in place motorway has to be prepared, subjected to load test... And madam is talking Jan 10th... Please don't hurry critical civil installations unless you want to see a tragedy again...
